Message from Rector Dalgar for May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day
Yapılış Tarihi | 18 May 2026, Monday
Our university's Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar published a message on the occasion of May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day.
In his message, Rector Dalgar included the following statements:
My Esteemed Nation,
Dear Youth,
On May 19, representing the will of the Turkish nation that does not bow to oppression, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk landed in Samsun, igniting the torch of independence and illuminating Anatolia on the shoulders of the youth, changing the fate of our nation.
Today, our youth are the greatest custodians of this legacy.
As Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, we see the “Generation of Asım” in the ideal of Mehmet Akif Ersoy, whose name we bear; a youth nourished by the values of these lands, open-minded to the world, thinking, questioning, producing, and taking responsibility.
We are working with all our might to properly direct the energy and excitement of youth; to equip them with historical awareness, the skills of the age, and human values.
Alongside our specialized fields such as agriculture and animal husbandry, we are ensuring that our youth are better prepared for life through the projects we carry out in the field of sports. With our sports-friendly campus understanding, we also prioritize their physical and mental development.
We believe that the greatest strength and the most genuine hope of this country is our youth.
With these feelings and thoughts, I commemorate with mercy, gratitude, and respect all the heroes of our National Struggle, especially the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and I sincerely celebrate the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day for our dear youth, our university family, and our esteemed nation.
Prof. Dr. Hüseyin DALGAR
